Patrice Jones, founder of Fru Fit "Affordable Fitness" knows first-hand what it’s like to feel unhappy due to being overweight and unhealthy. Weighing in at 208 pounds and only 5’3 in 2006, Patrice, like many Americans, had a fast-food addiction. She didn’t make time for exercise because she felt she was too busy. No longer able to fit into her size 19 jeans, Patrice made time for change! In approximately 1 year, Patrice shed 65 pounds through healthy diet and exercise.   An avid runner (56 miles per week), with a passion for health and fitness, her battle had just begun.   In 2009, Patrice developed blood clots in both her legs (DVT – Deep Vein Thrombosis), which then broke off and traveled to her right lung (PE – Pulmonary Embolisms). Pulmonary Embolisms have a very high mortality rate, causing her doctors to fear the worse. After a weeklong stay in the hospital and a permanently scarred right lung, doctors told Patrice she would never be the runner she used to be. In 4 months, Patrice gradually progressed from being immobile; unable to stand or walk without the use of a cane, to running 4 miles per day. Her current workout program includes 5 to 6 mile runs per day and vigorous strength training.  After losing her 37 year old brother to obesity-related complications in March 2009, Patrice Jones became a Personal Trainer.   In 2011-2013 she would face yet MORE health related battles  with DVT's and Pulmonary Embolisms of the lung. In addition, November of 2012 she experienced a near-death experience; she developed tumors the size of a 4 month old fetus and had to have multiple blood transfusions, an emergency partial hysterectomy, and an IVC filter implant to prevent the blood clots from traveling to major organs. This ordeal caused a 50 pound weight gain. After a 28 day hospital stay, bed rest and a recovery period, she returned to managing FRU FIT. At the present time she is training for her very first professional fitness completion for 2014.  She pushes her clients out of their ‘comfort-zone’ and helps them push back from the table; away from their ‘comfort-foods’. Health and fitness success guaranteed; weight loss on the outside; healthiness from the inside out! With the death of her older brother and her own battle with illness and obesity, Patrice is able to motivate and inspire her clients to live healthy lifestyles through proper diet and exercise. Per her OWN example of pushing past ALL obstacles, her motto is 'NO EXCUSES...PERIOD!!'.
